Hi, inuyasha, The entry level Ham radio license is a Technician class license. The ARRL has information about the license and the test that you may find useful. If you visit their web page at http://www.arrl.org/getting-your-technician-license you'll find that they state the Technician privileges include: All VHF/UHF Amateur bands (frequencies above 30 MHz). These Amateur bands include a portion of the frequencies that the WRT54Gx routers use. So as long as you have a Tech license and stay on the right 802.11 channels you're operating legally (See http://www.arrl.org/frequency-allocations for additional frequencies you can use.) Good luck on the exam. Mark KV4I
